THE GEOMETRIC PRESS

The Geometric Press provides a range of scientific publishing services, specializing in editing, typesetting, and technical illustration for the mathematical sciences and chemistry. Unlike most typesetters and illustrators, we are scientifically literate and consequently aware of the special requirements of mathematics and science publishing. We take pride in creating typeset pages of the highest typographical quality for scientific books and journals, especially those with a mathematically intensive content.

We offer a complete editing and typesetting service from author files to final pages, with intermediate proofing stages as required. Our quotes are per final printed page and normally include any data capture and conversion, all the on-screen editing and formatting of the author files to the publisher’s specification, proofing, and delivery of final pages as printer-ready PDF files. We would normally supply first, second, and final proofs, and there would be no extra charges for author corrections or amendments at proof stage, unless these were so extensive as to affect the page make-up.

Combining the editing and typesetting processes is an effective and economical way of fast-tracking book production and shortening the production time of journal articles, while at the same time relieving editors and production staff at the publishers of tedious administrative tasks.

We are PC based and use TeX, LaTeX, and 3B2 for typesetting, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop for general technical artwork, and ChemDraw/Chem3D for chemical artwork. We also make use of Autosketch and Mathematica to create beautiful geometric artwork.

We can supply electronic versions of documents, in HTML or PDF format, with customized links, and we are currently developing an XML editorial and production environment for producing typeset pages, together with HTML and PDF files for online delivery, all directly from the same XML source file.
